Peak Climbing

Nepal is famous among the world with the different kinds of names; for instance country of Himalaya, country of temples, birth place of lord Buddha, second richest country in water resource and so on. It’s naturally one of the most beautiful country with sky scraper mountains with snow whole year including the world highest peak Mt. Everest (8848 m) and 7 others world highest listed peak also here in Nepal. So we can say Nepal is paradise place to climb up mountains or peaks. Nepal is the favorite destination for mountaineers and every year more than 600 expedition’s target up the Himalaya, including the trekking peaks. With 8 of the highest peaks in the world, Nepal has been the focus of some of the most outstanding achievements in the world or mountaineering. For many decades, the countless icy peaks have posed as challenge to those who dare. There are some 326 peaks in Nepal open for mountaineering today. Government of Nepal opened around 175 peaks in the last two years to mark the Mount Everest Golden Jubilee Celebrations. The Mountaineering section of the ministry of Culture issues climbing permit to scale the Nepal Himalayas in all sections.

It seems that expedition and peak climbing are almost same but in the context of Nepal they are slightly different. Above 7000 m high mountaineering is known as an expedition and less than 7000 m on mountaineering is known as peak climbing. In the exceptional case though mount Amadablam is less than 7000 m it’s counted as an expedition because it’s much technical and adventure rather than the other peaks. Some such famous and well known peaks in Nepal are: Island, Labuche, Mera, Pisang, Chulu West, Naya Khang, Yala, Polder, Mardi Himal, Sarebung, Chulu Est, Papchhermo and so on. You have golden chance to climb easy, moderate and challenging peaks in Nepal, which can determine by the altitude of the mountain. In Nepal you can climb average 7000 meters high peaks including 5000 thousand meters high peaks too.
